Master Brewer Frank Boon has been a pioneer in the art of traditional Lambic brewing since 1975. Thanks to his passion and dedication to the heritage and expertise in the brewing of Geuze, Kriek and other Lambic based blends, the quality and popularity of this otherwise unknown specialty beer has been kept alive and well. After countless hard-working years in the business the time was right to step aside to make room for his sons Karel and Jos to take over the reins and help push the brand into the future.
To help celebrate this transition and the career of Frank Boon, a momentous special blend was created that would personify the pinnacle of his knowledge and craftsmanship. Purposefully named Apogee, this limited-edition Oude Geuze deserved a bottle design to reflect this unique moment. We decided to drop the regular label technique for a more prestigious direct printing approach which allowed us the freedom to hand craft a storytelling illustration reflecting Franks achievements. With Frank taking centre stage, dressed in the traditional uniform of authentic Lambic brewers, and flanked left and right by his sons, we created a decorative motif combining symbolic brewing motifs and expressive typography.
