Like in many other countries, Belgium has a rich and dynamic industry of passionate culinary entrepreneurs who from humble local beginnings grow into business and brands of great renown. Many said businesses first achieve success through manufacturing for private labels, small specialist stores and the professional food service industry. But then the alluring challenge of mainstream retail and export markets comes knocking, which in-turn requires a branded approach and a new way of thinking.

Thankfully we didn’t have to look far for an authentic story to support the brand creation for Verleye biscuits and chocolate confectionary. Inspired by the family partnership between master chocolatier & pâtissier Jan Verleye and his son Pieter, the brand Pierre & Jean was born. True to their roots grown from beloved Belgian confectionary traditions, Pierre & Jean carefully craft an extensive range of premium biscuits and chocolate treats. From Rozette butter biscuits to chocolate coated Nougatine almond bites to irresistible Mello Cakes, their expertise stretches over an eclectic and diverse selection of delicious delights.

Spanning a packaging family that includes gable-top carton boxes, re-sealable pouches, assortment boxes and economy tubs, our visual identity required a flexibility to accommodate all possibilities. Built on a clearly defined beige, gold and royal blue colour palette, our look & feel is decorated with a creative collection of authentic illustrations designed to evoke our values and tell a story of passion and hard work. Central to this story is of course Pierre and Jean who not only appear through our branding but also separately across the packs as spokespeople for the brand, connecting with consumers.
