DELFT BLUE by Roka

Delft Blue inspired Tax-Free retail identity

The history of Roka’s cheese biscuits goes back to the year 1946. It was back then in his local shop in Delft Holland, pastry baker Roodenrijs treated his costumers to the taste of his delicious and delicate puff pastry biscuits for the very first time. A Dutch icon was born. The rich flavoured biscuits with more than 30% old Gouda cheese were an instant hit with every aperitif. Today this much loved biscuit brand is working on a true revival, even the packaging couldn’t be left behind.

Roka’s cheese biscuits find their origin in the Dutch city of Delft. A city that is not only famous for its paper thin cheese biscuits but also for their iconic pottery in its typical hand-painted blue style. Instantly this white and blue Delftware was our natural inspiration for an exclusive packaging range for specialist- and tax-free airport shops.

Along with the Dutch architecture ‘gable style’ roofed boxes, we showcase hand-painted water-colour illustrations that decorate the pack, enticing consumers with our truly authentic Dutch identity. Rich in heritage and proud of its origins an identity designed to invite consumers to take a deliciously authentic bit of Holland home with them.
